Ethiopia-Eritrea Boundary Commissions (EEBC)
The reason for current stalemate after the UN mediated ceasefire in 2000, is Ethiopia’s refusal to comply with the final rulings of Ethiopia-Eritrea Boundary Commissions (EEBC). The Boundary Commission was set up in the year 2000, to demarcate the 1000 km long border between these two countries. In its final ruling, the Boundary Commission had awarded the border town of Badme to Eritrea. But Ethiopian Foreign Ministry not only refused to accept it and called it as biased in favour of Eritrea, but also accused that it (EEBC) had “transformed into a party to the dispute.” More on IIPM Editorial related information, click here...
